Kickin' Around Colorado

We had the bikes loaded up in the truck, and made a lazy departure from home.

Nikki's father, Keith, agreed to drop us off in Trinidad, CO (where we will pick up the trail). We arrived in the early evening, but decided to stop short and stay in Raton, NM because the rooms are about $80 cheaper a night. As long as we are alive in the morning, I figure that it is money well saved!

The next day we spent going around the Southern Colorado area with Kieth in the truck. First stop was Bishop Castle in the San Isabel N.F. This man (Jim Bishop) has built this place all by himself.

Then we headed North, with a quick stop in Westcliffe, CO for lunch, then we headed out to the Royal Gorge.

Now we are back at the motel getting everything ready to hit the trail in the morning. I feel like we are carrying too much stuff, but I can't find anything to leave behind. I guess we will see once we settle into the groove, maybe we will ship some stuff home.
